This place is a good choice during summer time as it has got enough destinations for different types of activities. Food, sight-seeing and shopping Mulayanagiri and Kempanagundi will give you different types of experience. One for the breath taking view and the other will be a good mountain driving experience throught the dense forest reserve. Activities & things to do Hiking, rafting, fishing. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. There are two options, one via Hasan (NH48) and the other via Tumkur (NH206). The later is absolutely terrible as roads are severly bad and your car will be wasted. Always choose the route via Hasan (NH48) from Bangalore, even though the roads from Hasan onwards has quite a few stretches of really bad roads where you cannot go beyond 10km/hr. So the last 60 kms to reach Chikkamagalur town center will take you easily more than 2 hours.

How to reach Chikmagalur

250 kms from Capital city(Banglore)

By Air:

The nearest airport for Chikmagalur is at Mangalore, about 150 kms. away.

By Train:

Chikmagalur is not reachable by train from other Indian cities. However Kadur, at a distance of 40km is the closest railway station. For train timings and on-line reservations (within India) visit the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation's website

By Bus:

There are buses running from Bangalore every 30-60 minutes. During the weekends these buses are often full and getting a ticket can be a bit of a hassle unless booked in advance. KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) buses are comfortable, especially the Airavata Volvo buses.
